Sue's Place has a post about the quandary the editorial board at GSO101 was put in over a word in a post on the site.
Seems Gate took offense to a slang word describing a female body part.
Calvin Williams, the coordinator of the blog, edited the blog and all is well, although he did bring up some valid questions that need answering.
Like Sue, I have read f**k, a**, a**holes etc. on several blogs that I read, and have even used a**holes on mine in describing my former employer.
I do have a disclaimer saying that I may use "strong language depending on my mood". Will that keep someone underage from reading it? My posting might but I doubt a disclaimer will.
The problem I see on the horizon is that as the blogosphere, Triad Blogs, and 101 continue to grow, sooner or later you're going to have someone that is "offended" by these words too.
Whatcha' gonna do then?
Are we just going to ban things like this when 1 or 2 people complain?
I say either ban it all or let it stand.
Is F**K really that much different than P***Y???

I dunno yet.
You ask, is f**k really different from p****y? I think it depends. If I write "my boss is a dumb f**k and a p****y," that's obnoxious, but not pornographic.
If I write, "She took her clothes off and asked me to f**k her p****y," that may be considered pornographic by some, but not necessarily obscene (if it has some scientific, literary or artistic value).
If I use the same words to describe a sex act in a post that has no scientific, literary or artistic value, then it may very well be, by legal definition, obscene.
So no, "f**k" is not necessarily different from "p***y," but context matters.
Thanks Roch, and I understand where you're coming from, but some people are going to be offended no matter what context these words are used in, and you're still in a quandry.
Frankly it doesn't bother me one way or the other as I have become accustomed to both words working with the trash mouths I used to work with.
Looks like you'll have to keep the board busy and decide every post on a case by case basis as you did here, but then you may have people bit***ng about censorship.
No win situation.
